Shortly after the PvP honor system was officially released, I PvPed a good bit and then took a 10 day vacation (10 days without World of Warcraft). When I came back, I knew I had some catching up to do, so damnit I did some catching up. At least in terms of points and standings.
Last week, I got 38,000 contribution points and came in 17th place among the Horde. This week, I got 45,000 contribution points and I'm in 8th place this week of all the Horde on the Magtheridon server in terms of getting PvP points. That's pretty damn impressive if I say so myself. My ranking, however, is not reflecting this. I only have Stone Guard. I was expecting all week to have a minimum ranking of Blood Guard this week. However, I am not. So I took a look at the points people have been getting that are Blood Guard, and I noticed that I've been tripling the contribution points that these people have been getting. A Blood Guard priest had 22,000 contribution points to bump her up to Blood Guard this week. She is 35th amongst the Horde. That's not too shabby right? Well I figured this must of gotten a huge amount of kills the weeks before, kills I probably missed out on in the 10 days I could not PvP. However, I outdo her on total kills by about 500 (I have 4300, she has 3800).
Wait a moment, I've been working my ass off getting more kills, getting more contribution points, and getting a better standing in a SHORTER amount of time available to me than this player and I'm the one who is outranked?
What is it I'm missing about the PvP Honor System? Can I ever expect to be Warlord or High Warlord, or am I eternally damned out of PvP Epic Gear Heaven because I was forced to miss a few days after the system launched? What does this mean for new players to WoW? I've read the FAQ, and I still wonder.

Keep in mind that the Standing number is only for that week, not lifetime. The Blood Guards might well have more CPs and consistent contribution over a longer period of time, thus making them higher than you in that regard.
