Subject: Maximum number of debuffs on an enemy?
A while back I remember reading that there is a maximum number of debuffs that can be on a mob at once, somewhere around 10 or 16. At the time, a Blizzard poster said this was a known issue and would be resolved at some point in time.

I haven't seen anything relating to this in any patch notes since launch, and people still believe it is in effect. Is there still a cap on debuffs, and if so, what is it, and is that going to change?

Its pretty annoying because people are actually turned down from instance runs because they have talents or weapons that proc debuffs, and needless to say, a max of 10 or 16 debuffs for fighting a world boss is painfully small.

I'm hoping for an official response about this, and if this is no longer an issue, perhaps this can serve to start dispelling the myth :)

On a side note, I am curious about how people know that a mob can't have more than a certain number of debuffs on them at once. I can only see about 6 in-game, is there some script command or UI addon that shows this?

There is currently a maximum of 8 debuffs allowed per enemy. We are going to increase that number in the future but at this time I do not know by how much.
The Murloc is in aggro range...
