I will post here because nobody reads the tech forums.

For absolutely no reason, after the latest patch, I cannot stay connected to the server for loner than 5 minutes.

Thats about it. Anybody else have this problem? If so, have you fixed it, or found out how to? Blizard what is the problem and how can I fix this?

Problems such as the one you're describing are often related to port restriction, Raidd. So you're aware, it is possible to be behind a router or firewall and successfully connect to the game with the necessary ports blocked. Usually in such cases, disconnections are inevitable until unrestricted communication is allowed on said ports. I would advise that you check to make certain TCP port 3724 is opened on all software and devices within your network which are designed to manage data packets.

I realize that many players become confused when problems such as this crop us, especially when no changes to their network were made, however, a patch modifies your game executable in such a way that your firewall may no longer recognize it. Also, there are automatic updates that can cause changes to be made without your knowledge, along with numerous other possibilities.

In any case, other causes for disconnection issues are related to background applications, outdated network drivers, or general internet connection failure. Unfortunately, I'm not a technician so I can provide you with no further assistance in the mater. Hopefully, this information will set you on the path necessary to find resolution. Please feel free to email wowtech@blizzard.com if your problem persists.

My next suggestion was included in my last paragraph. Unfortunately, technical support is not available via the General Discussion forum. I would urge you to double-check your port settings along with what programs might be running in the background.

Edit: Pleae also note that the original poster is having disconnection issues, and not crashing, so more than likely your problem is completely separate.

Q u o t e:
With all due respect Eyonix doesn't have any idea what he's talking about.

Its not just you Raidd. Im veteran techy and im getting disconnection problems to. Its their login server/network/servers whatever.

If the game was running fine before patch and now your getting disconnected then its on Blizzards end.

In order to play the game you shouldn't have to touch your ports on a standard port forwarding NAT router.

To use the updater you may have to open some ports though.

My advice is give it a day or two for them to fix their problems and see if your problem doesn't fgo away.

Keeping in mind that the general connection instability players have been experiencing from recent server-side issues do not fit the description outlined by the original poster and the fact that restricted port access can most definitely cause the problem he's experiencing. I would advise he begin troubleshooting the situation, rather than waiting for it to resolve itself. This is not to say that this problem is related to what I've suggested as a possiblity, however my goal was quite simply was to point the player in the direction of proper troubleshooting.

Guys, there are plenty of existing threads which you can choose to flame me or discuss dissatisfaction. Please don't interfere when I'm offering assistance to a player on our boards. If you have something helpful to add, such as Murdurane's first response, please do so. Otherwise, post elsewhere. Thread hijacking will not be tolerated.

World of Warcraft uses TCP port 3724. To clarify, I've not seen a router restrict a necessary port and allow connection at the cost of random disconnects. This was just included in my statement as a "just in case". What I have seen a number of times is firewall software that allows such behavior.
