I'm curious as to what blizzards stance is with Alt-Key strokes in names? Was it intended or is it a bug? Are people who use them going to have their names changed or no?
Quite frankly the only person hurt by it at all is the person with the name since other people may have trouble messaging them and that sort of thing. I have an alt that has the ø for a letter in the name because I like the look of it.
I dont figure this is a big deal but I also note that Blizzard is taking teh time to nerf my Sandfurry Guardian *because it wasn't supposed to ever be tameable?* when it has ABSOLUTELY no benefit over any other pet. Armor/DPS match up to other pets fairly well, they lose claw with bite being their only ability.
I mean their are a lot of problems with the game at the moment. Ok.. So why is something sooooo stupid on priority? And worse-yet. Rather than removing my pet I'll no longer be able to feed it. For that I want to see the animal rights activst wtfpwn you guys. I have two choices atm: 1) I release the pet that took me so long to get at level 45 *yes it was VERY hard to beat divino rod quest with pickup groups at level 45* or 2) I sit there and let the pet i've used for 13, almost 14 levels remain in a *red* state of unhappyness until he runs away.
PS Compare this to 'Ring of Alexis' BoE now, BoP after patch. But ones that were BoE get kept? GG.. Save my snake! plz /sign cuz i <3 heffalump

The accented letters and such are in the client due to international needs. We are working on a filter for the North American version, but it will be a bit as other things are taking priority.
In regards to the Sandfury Guardian -- the serpent is not a recognized tameable family. Others with that model are not tameable, and the fact that these were was not intended. It may be added in the future.
The lack of feeding instead of instant removal (while there are technical reasons behind this method) gives the Hunter a little time to get a new pet.

It has impacts down the line, Surj. What may appear harmless in the short term might well cause problems in the long run.
Now, the developers want to bring more variety to Hunter pets. This is true. So let's say (this is an example) that they decide to give bonuses and drawbacks to each pet family. Significant ones. Every pet in the game receives these except -- oops -- the Sandfury Guardian, since it does not belong to a family. Now this pet may not be balanced with the rest of the content, and something must be done similar to what's being done now.
It's not being done to sucker-punch Hunters. It's a legitimate change that will help aid the Hunter class in the long run as differences to pets are added. The developers are also considering making the serpents into a family of their own at some point.

It is not supposed to be classified as a wind serpent -- it clearly is not.
I'm sorry, but the ring issue and the snake issue are not the same thing. Pets are far more integral to class balance and must be carefully changed. The Sandfury Guardian change is not going to be rescinded, I'm afraid. I'm aware it's become somewhat of a status symbol among Hunters, but in the interest of present and future balance and gameplay it cannot be tameable with both the creature and the pet system in its current state. I have brought your concerns to the development staff previously and that is the response.
