Subject: 27/04 Migration update
   Status 10:30 CEST, April 27th

Migration is currently disabled due to a problem with part of the migrations. There is currently no ETA, but it's unlikely to open again today.

----------

Update 4 (Gamemaster)

The part "Probably the migration will not be reacitvated today" in the first post applies to all migrations not only the German and French.

----------

Update 3 (Gamemaster)

The migration in general is closed and we do not have an ETA for when it will be back up. We apologise for the vagueness in the first post of this thread.

----------

Update 2 (Gnorog)

Due to an issue with the German and French migration we need to disable character migration in general for a couple of hours in order to fix this issue.Probably the migration will not be reacitvated today.English characters are not affected by this issue. We'll get back to you as soon as we have an update for you. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may has caused.

----------

Update (Gnorog)

The migration page should work now.
Due to the amount of players who use the migration service all over Europe the site might be slow right now.
As soon as you were able to do the migration it can take some time until the character appears on the target realm.

----------

Original post (Grorog)

Due to an unexpected downtime of some realms which came to the most unpleasant moment the migration will delay for at least one hour.
We apologize for this delay and will keep you updated as soon as we have news regarding the migration status.

   Update 15:20 CEST

Just confirming that migration will be open tomorrow, Friday April 28th. None of the destination realms have seen migration numbers that make us immediately concerned about the population after the migration.

   Update 17:00 CEST, April 28th

The amount of players (accounts, not just characters) migrating from Bladefist to Outland is so high it's been decided against moving another realm there. Thus Daggerspine migration will point to the new realm Kazzak.

While we understand this is not what many players wanted, we have to prioritize giving everybody a chance to move and not creating a realm with thousands of playere in queue.

Note that based on migration numbers next week we may direct some of the migrating realms in the next phase to Kazzak instead of Grim Batol or Stonemaul.

Q u o t e:
I'm sure blizzard won't give us any, but I would also like some numbers? how many accounts migrated??

More than twice the amount that was estimated in most threads and on the Outland community website (http://outland-wow.blogspot.com/2006/04/outland-migration.html).

Q u o t e:
if you are simply counting the number of characters on Outlands database then your system is seriously flawed since people have more than one character.

I already stated it's the number of accounts. The number of characters is a lot higher.

3rd party sources of numbers are far from accurate.

Guys, I'm not able to give numbers of accounts per realm and all such details. Sorry. If such was considered public information I'd given it out to explain the decision in the first update.

yet your using the blogspot as a reference source? :>

That was just to show I do check the player sites. I might as well have said "more than 6356", but it wouldn't have the same effect.

But you're able to check my suggestion and respond do it. Please do.

You mean merging realms? If the migration is that low, I'll bring it up. I consider it extremely unlikely though.

Q u o t e:
Did you count the number of accounts who had only lvl 1 cahrs?

I don't have that number, but I'll try get it. However, the number of migrated accounts is higher than any past migration, and actually at a level where we would normally close it down immediately. The only reason it's not closed is that it's a single realm migrating to Outland, so technically it shouldn't be possible for it to be more crowded than Bladefist was.

Q u o t e:
You've answered your own statement there Thundgot. It shouldnt be possible for Outland to be more crowded than Bladefist was, and it isnt. The active population of Ouland is currently nowhere near that of what bladefist was, just standing in a city that becomes obvious - Your numbers are simply skewed because as plenty of people have been stating through this thread, seemingly a very substantial portion of daggerspine players have been creating bladefist alts and transferring them to save their names, and obviously these should be immediately discounted as the alts will be replaced, not added to, by the daggerspine migration.

This is not a matter of whether Outland is more crowded than Bladefist now. Of course it's not. The point is how likely it is that it would be over-crowded after the Daggerspine players move there too.

As for the numbers, I saw some saying only about 1000 players would move from Daggerspine. If I assume all of these 1000 made a character (or several) to reserve a name, and thus deduct that number from the migrated accounts, the migration number would still be extremely high and reason for population concerns should the two realms both migrate to Outland.

A friend of mine was unable (after several attemots) to migrate yesterday. Today she was unable to try due to work commitments. Is the migration open over the weekend?

It will open again at 03:00 CEST on Monday.
