Subject: Epic for Casuals: The guide
This post is meant to be a guide for casuals. Casuals in WoW are people who don't have the time to farm raid instances for epic items. Lots of people think this class of people is overlooked. However, casuals can still gain a deal of epic items, but it will require effort.

I explain it again: casuals need to do effort for epic items. This means farming gold/items in the time they got. The real difference is that casuals won't farm for 8 hours straight for the drops they need. They do it in parts of 1.5 hours or so. This means you will get your epic slower in daytimes, but about the same in /played.
Again: find yourself a neat farmplace, and farm gold until you die of boredom. Hardcore raiders do it too, and it is exactly what you will have to do to get the items you want.

I divide epic for casuals in 3 parts. I will explain each part, and at the end of all posts you will find a list of items that i consider casual epics.

Part 0: the tier 0.5 quest.
Blizzard intended this set to be casual friendly. The first part may be so, but as soon as you get to the 45" run it becomes really hardcore. If you try this questchain you should ask for yourself wheter you are casual, cause it will long stretches of time to complete.
As such I call this part 0 cause it is not epic for casuals.

Part 1: Easy epics
This part is mostly based on the darkmoon faire. You can choose between trinkets or amulet. The mats/gold for these can be farmed in a few weeks if you want. I had 2 days free and farmed enough gold to buy orb of the darkmoon. It is possible.
hint: try find someone with a good crafting profession so you can get the max out of the ticket quests.
I put the BoP tailor patterns and the breastplate of chromatic flight here too. With some farming these items are gettable in a few weeks too. I have no experiences with the breastplate, but a friend did truefaith in two days, and I did RotV in one month. My friend had enough gold allready, but is casual. I did not do alot of effort to get it fast.

Part 2: Midclass epics
This is getting harder. I included a list with epic items every craft profession can make. This will require a big deal of farming/ah and fees for the crafter. However this is also managable. Just spend the time you got on one goal at a time and you will make real progress.
If you enjoy pvp you can also do Alterac Valley. If your side wins then you can rise in rep very quickly. Getting to Exhalted will take time and might require some dedicated days of pvp farming, but can be done in 2-3 months with 1 dedicated day each week and some more in the evenings.
However at exhalted you get some of the best epic items in the game.

Part 3: Hard-to-get Epics
This includes 2 classes of items.
The first are pristine hide of the beast based items. The components are expensive, but farmable by casuals. No raiding needed.
However this will take a looooong time as the hide can go for 900g at times.
Also includes bind on equip tier 1 class set. Either buy them of the auction house. The price there can fluctuate between 200-500g. You can also my a deal with the guildleader from the top guild of your server. If your lucky you might get the item for a fair price.
The tier 1 is not included in the list. Try Thottbotting for them.
