I am sure you may of noticed a slight proportion of the posts on the forums to be of the…shall we say, lacking in actual usefulness.
I would appreciate if you, the community managers would actually manage the communities…or more to the point, the forum and the contents. Any interesting and potentially useful topics are drowned in ‘nerf/whine/I want a IWIN button/etc etc' topics, this is a symptom of unmanaged forums.
If you feel that its not the job of the community manager to limit forum posts, appoint forum managers or administrators, allow these then to trawl through the trivia and remove repeats, and trolls. Add a ban/suspend (from forums) if necessary.
I would guess by now there will be a number of community members that are dieing to point out that overregulated forums take away customers freedom to express themselves, however I say the rubbish makes it hard to see any expression so clear the rubbish to allow expressions.
Calculate the numbers of useful topics...and then look at the useful posts in sad topics and I am willing to hazard a guess there's a large proportion of pure waste of database space, and the community pays for that waste in lessened efficiency in the response and uptime of these forums.

You're essentially saying our job is (or includes) to moderate these forums stricter than we do currently. While I must insist that the person deciding our job is our manager, not you, I think this is an interesting topic.
As the line of moderation is often a very hot topic among the users of any forums, I'll hereby add a blue tag to this thread and see what people say. Do you feel the moderation of these forums is as it should be, or could we loosen up a bit, or possibly crack down a bit harder on some things? Note that this is purely about the moderation, not frequency or quality of blue posts. ;)
That there is one damn fine epic you're wearin'.

Q u o t e: If I click General Forums I'll see five serious, interesting threads which deserve some official attention (and are devoid of it) and around 3 with "POST HERE IF U LIKE CHUCK NORRIS!" which are ALL Blue tagged. Makes you wonder....
But those blue posts were made weeks or even months ago - only people bump them to the first page all the time.

Q u o t e: I am not targeting community managers lack of information, I understand why they (CM's) can't give out more information than they do. CM's can only give out information that has been cleared for public release, information that already is publicly available or technical updates that have been passed on to them.
I am criticising what I perceive to be a lack of moderation on the forums. I see too many repeat topics, personal topics and topics that add nothing to the community, merely adding to the pile of topics one must trawl through to find anything.
That's what I read too, and though people have a tendency to move a bit off that topic that's the main point in this thread. Quoting to get more replies on that specific one.
