In order to enhance performance for all realms and to prepare for Cross-Realm Battlegrounds (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/underdev/) by grouping more same-language realms together, we intend to move a number of existing realms to a new hosting site tomorrow.
On Wednesday, 28th June the following 11 realms will be moved to a new site. To accommodate this process we anticipate these realms being unavailable for up to 36 hours. Consequently, all players with an active character on these realms will be credited with 2 days additional game time.
We will provide you with regular updates during the entire process.

Please take note:
Due to a technicality, after this move your friends and ignore lists will be wiped clean. This is an unfortunate side effect, for which we want to apologise beforehand. Should you wish to do so, make sure to make a personal note of the people you have in your friends list (and your ignore list, if you want.)
Also, please be aware that all active auctions will automatically expire once this move starts, effectively ending them early. So if you don't want your epic item to go for a low price, don't start an auction with an ending time close to the start of this move.
In addition, this move is expected to impose downtime of up to 24 hours on the following realms. As a result all players with an active character on one of these affected realms will receive one extra day of game time.
The additional days will be added to your gaming account in the coming weeks.
We believe this move will ultimately benefit players on all the affected realms but we'd like to apologise in advance for the inconvenience this process will cause. We'd also like to assure you that that we will do our utmost to make the transition as smooth and time-limited as possible.

Good question. It should only affect the 11 realms that are being moved.

As you can see from the announcement the moves affect not only the realms being moved but many others - for 24 hours. Moving in several stages would mean repeated downtime for several of these other realms, especially those on the site where the transferred realms are moved to (i.e. those moving first would have to be down during all subsequent moves).
Hence this is done in one go exactly for the reason of being as little of an inconvenience as possible.
The short notice is something we're very aware of, and we will of course try avoid such short notice in the future. There are many pieces that need to fall into place for such a move, and we hoped to have the final green light (and all details) earlier, but unfortunately that was not the case.
