I'm about to hit level 38 on my Priest and I started doing some reading on the higher level dungeons that are out there.
I noticed that all Dungeons (low and high end) seem to have official minimum level guidelines, established by Blizzard and most fan sites seem to echo those sentiments as well.
But how accurate are they?
I started doing SM at level 36. Mind you, I wasn't dealing damage (since I'm mostly a Holy spec), so I didn't have as hard a time as most would have had there. But I've done SM (all sections) so many times since and I'm dying to try something new.
From what I read, the next Dungeon for me is Uldaman, but the suggested minimum level for that is at least 40.
So how true are the suggested level guidelines and have you had any success by not following them? Or was it a big mistake and you should have waited until you were the level Blizzard said you should be at?

In the Burning Crusade, we intend to keep dungeon level spreads to 2-3 levels. Our initial approach to dungeon level flow changed greatly through the development of World of Warcraft. Tighter level ranges on dungeons will help players know exactly which dungeon they should be trying.
We do not have immediate plans to re-address old dungeon level ranges but we hope to sometime in the future.

I should clarify that the 2-3 level spread would be for a singular wing. A complete dungeon (which could consist of up to 4 wings) could have a larger spread.
