Subject: 40 druid Onyxia raids: First wave. |

Our first wave of all-druid Onyxia raids went off tonight. Attendance was a little less than was hoped, and I believe only mine (the horde PvP raid) got off the ground.
We made our first attempt with only 29 druids, most of whom had never met or played with each other. And despite this handicap, our first run at Onyxia, with no special buffs (saving flasks and Blasted Lands buffs for later runs) got the bird down to 54%. Our second run had some issues, as we had several new people in the group (bumped it up to 34 for that run) who didn't know exactly what all we were doing, and didn't make it past stage 1. Our third run, again down to only 30 druids, managed to take Onyxia into stage 2 before wiping.
Pictures will be forthcoming, as will the 10+ gigs of video I have (silly fraps and its lack of compression...) sometime in the next few days, of both the raids, and the party afterwords, where we all pointed and laughed at Caydiem in oomkin form ;)
A big thanks to everyone who came, and to all the people who donated potions/herbs/etc. Ambela for making all the potions up, Swale (my roommate) for calling the shots on the strategy, our two intrepid tanks Califax and Vedeib, and Caydiem for being a resident celebrity. And having better gear than anyone else :-P
We're going to try and schedule another one in before test goes down, hopefully this weekend. This Saturday was proposed, though many people may have guild raids. Friday is another alternative, if that works any better. Stay tuned, and if you want up to date information, whisper any "Cow Level" guildmember for an invite to the guild (they can all invite) where I'll post something in the guild MotD about future raids. We can do this guys :)
Edit: I forgot one other big thank you! Thanks loads to Obsidian from Lightning's Blade for loaning us their Vent server after our TS server had issues. That helped immensely![ post edited by Funhoofs ]

Thank you and Orestes for organizing such a grand event! It was my pleasure to take part in the raid, and seeing 29 Druids get her down so low that first time with no outstanding buffs was quite amazing.
If nothing else, it was a fantastic way to stress the diversity and viability of the class. It was certainly a lot of fun. ;)
I look forward to the pictures!
(And no, the character used does not resemble my play character in name, appearance, or even realm type... no singling me out on live realms, now! ;) )
