Subject: Druids, it might be our last chance!
The changes are still very new. While moonkin form is a nice change I would prefer something else.

How about male druids turn into a keeper of the grove and female druids turn into dryads?

Remember that this wouldn't make for a difficult change programming wise as the models for KotG and dryads are already in game like the moonkin was.

Let's make this a petition. Sign here if you would prefer these forms to moonkin.

Tauren Keepers of the Grove and Dryads would look very, very silly... not to mention extremely close to the Tauren racial enemy, the Centaur. Somehow, I don't think they'd enjoy appearing so closely related.

Moonkin are considered sacred animals by both Night Elves and Tauren, guardians and protectors of nature. Night Elf legend says that Elune created these creatures to guard her shrines and other sacred areas across the land with the intelligence of an owl and strength of a bear.

Keepers of the Grove and Dryads, on the other hand, are the literal sons and daughters of a demigod.

It makes more sense to shift into a sacred animal of the Night Elves and Tauren than it does to shift into half-humanoid children of Cenarius, considering the Druid lore.

And plus, since Caydiem, I am guessing, will be a Balance Druid herself, won't want to hear herself say "Ah, the great outdoors!" every 5 seconds =)

My Druid's male. :P

Q u o t e:
If they are considered sacred animals why do we constantly kill them to achieve quest goals?

Why do Tauren help the Forsaken with their plague-related schemes?

The choice is there for you to make. You certainly never have to kill them if you feel your character would never spill the blood of a sacred creature.

Now, as to why certain quests ask you to slay them...

1) Many moonkin around Azeroth seem to have lost their purpose. Whether they're at the site they were charged to guard or no, the creatures are fiercely territorial. If they attack you, you're trespassing.

2) The questgivers that ask you to actually slay them tend to be neither Night Elf nor Tauren. The Wildkin Muisek quest from Feralas, for example, is given by a Troll.

Q u o t e:
Im sorry Caydiem but i must disagree, you yourself said that Elune made the moonkin, Druids are not priests no matter how much blizzard tries to make us like them we are not Priests!!!. the reason i say this is because the priests follow Elune, the Druids Follow the DEMIGOD so we should look like them. Blizzard made this game they have to follow it or change it to make these things fit. If Taurens dont look good as Keepers of the grove or Dryads well then they have to make an alternative. to me Moonkin DO NOT FIT with druids. We guard Nature NOT Elunes temples or sacred areas. thats all i have to say.

They don't fit with Druids?

The Cenarion Circle -- Night Elves and Tauren -- regard Moonkin as animals on Azeroth to protect the world. They're guardians of nature.

In addition, Druids shapeshift into animal forms. The Moonkin, while regarded as a humanoid by game mechanics, is still very feral and beastlike, having an intelligence more closely related to an owl's than a sentient being. There are no such illusions about Keepers of the Grove or Dryads -- they're very obviously non-feral, sentient creatures.

Tauren lore states that Cenarius was born from the union of Malorne and Mu'sha, the Moon. Cenarius is thus very closely tied with the Moon. Note that Druids cast Moonfire and Starfire, spells less associated with the natural world than one might think. I wonder where that power is born...

Any way you slice it, Moonkin are better suited for a Druidic form than Keepers of the Grove or Dryads. If you want to debate lore with me, feel free, but make sure you know enough to back up your claims. ;)

Q u o t e:
Caydiem, is your druid Tauren? Did you choose to go Horde because Eyonix plays Shaman?

I chose Horde for my Druid at launch because I like the Horde. Eyonix wasn't on the Community Team at the time.

I want to be a moonkin over anything else...however it should be noted that owls...aren't really that smart. Their brains are tiny in comparison to other birds of prey. It is just a common misconception that owls are "smart".

Hey, you never know... the owls of Azeroth could well hold more intelligence than the owls of Earth. ;)

Q u o t e:
Correction, you choose your druid on horde side, cause we all know from buff to classes, and PVP BG arrangement, that horde are favorite side...

AV was terrain unbalanced.
AB IS terrain unbalanced. I can list you numerous item showing how unfair the terrain is for alliance.

You need to fire your level designer and replace them with real men, that can be fair.

You can always hide the facts that horde are favorite, but some of us see through your lies.

Er.

There are a great many Alliance players on the team. The overall breakdown is pretty even, and I suggest you consult Horde players regarding bias if you're curious about how they feel.

Regardless, you're 1) off the topic of this post and 2) insulting the development staff, both of which are against the policy to which you agreed upon your first post here. I suggest you follow the rules of conduct.

Q u o t e:
Priests worshipped Elune. Druids did not. Moonkin do not apply.

Elune is Cenarius's true mother, according to lore of both Night Elves and Tauren. It does not change the fact that Moonkin are regarded as protectors of nature by the Cenarion Circle. They do apply.
No more "O RLY" Bird. I'm serious.
