Subject: response from caydiem
if you read caydiem's response about these "Fake" 1.8 patch notes, she never mention any of the druid changes are fake, kind of strange.

Q u o t e:
Our team composes the patch notes.

We haven't begun composing the 1.8 patch notes.

No "official" version of the patch notes exist, therefore, in any form, rough or complete.

Therefore, it is difficult to believe any leaked 1.8 notes are real at this juncture due to the fact that they do not exist in any capacity.

I'll point out a few things to confirm the fact that these are false, just in case you think I'm trying to cover up the giant conspiracy... ;)

1) We're holding off on releasing more Battlegrounds for the time being; since 1.7 included one, there's no way we'd be including another in 1.8.

2) We currently do not plan on adding more Auction Houses until we can link them, which requires overcoming a technical hurdle. That has not been overcome as of yet, and so more Auction Houses shouldn't be in so soon.

3) Certain notes, such as "Pets that enter combat will no longer flag their master for combat" and "Buffs that provide a bonus to resistance now stack with other resistance buffs" are directly against the design principles of the game.

While I commend whoever wrote them for taking time enough to create them, they are not official in any way, shape, or form.

We had a good laugh about the Goblin Gizmo Gauntlet, though. ;)

I didn't comment on them because I don't have the details on them yet and would rather not put my foot in my mouth -- but those notes are completely fabricated. :P

Q u o t e:
All I can say Caydiem is 2 things.

1. If they were fake they still great ideas. The feral buff that gives 15% stg and 15% agi is great and means druid will be welcome in mc without innervate. this has been an issuue with many druids. Nobody like being forced into 1 viable build.

2. I remember when the warrior patch(1.5 or 1.6) and a CM like yourself swore they were "completly fake". 3-4 weeks later they went live.

I'm am really hoping that if these notes are just a teaser to the patient druids waiting for love, that blizzards looks at these ideas and uses atleast half :D.

BTW Caydiem did you feel(personally) these "Fake" notes were somewhat on track to what is needed. Or did they scream over-powered/not the direction we want to go?

I wait for your reply(which most likely wont come)

Thx

Again, your second point, while valid, does not count in this case. The previous "leaks" took place when there was something official to leak. There is no official version, rough draft or complete, of the 1.8 patch notes. You can't leak what doesn't exist.

My personal feelings about the direction of the Druid don't come into play here. Understand that the second I begin expressing my own views on such, it's instantly claimed that I'm giving the developers my ideas, not yours, which is untrue. :P

Q u o t e:
Hey Caydiem -

Given that these patch notes are in fact 'fake', would you please do your very best to ensure that the druid elements within this fabrication become a reality . . . at least the fundamental concepts behind the changes. I am not so sure about specifcs (eg talents allowing 0.5 sec cast healing spells etc might need some tweaking) but there are certainly plenty of great ideas in those 'fabricated' notes that if the developers haven't considered yet that perhaps you could kindly persuade them into implementing :)

Shymlock

I will do my very best, Shymlock, to ensure the developers know how players -- all players -- feel about the direction of the Druid class; where they choose to take the class, however, is their decision in the end.

I assure you that the developers do know the trials of the Druid in the high-end game, why they're wanted for groups, and where the problems lie in potential talent builds. Remember that the primary focus of the upcoming changes is a hard look at the talent trees.

Q u o t e:
Is that another way of saying that the devs haven't put any thought at all into what druids are getting in 1.8? Does this mean we're getting nothing? Except maybe a promise of something in 1.9?

No.

Please, please do not read into my words more than what is there. I have said time and again that Druids are the primary focus of the class team for 1.8.

Q u o t e:
Didn't you say something similar about 1.7?

go go gadget nut pick, again...

1.8 PATCH NOTES:

Druid class replaced by squirrels.

Nope. Hunters were first up in 1.7.

Druids are the focus this time around.
