Subject: I have questions about my compromised account
The machine I play wow from at home, that's all I do on it. It has WoW, Teamspeak, Ventrilo, and Voice Overlay. (As well as a few wow ui mods, but only the most popular ones. Titan Panel, CTRA, Gatherer, etc.)

I do not browse the web on this machine. I have a laptop next to me for that. All my machines also contain the most up to date versions of Norton Antivirus, Zone Alarm, and Mike's Ad-blocking hosts file. (I also ran full scans after this happened, and they found nothing) These machines are also behind a router. My machine at work has the same protection as well as sitting behind a hardware firewall.

I am as certain as I possibly can be in today's day and age that whomever hacked my account did not get the password from me or any of my systems.

The answer to my secret question on the website has nothing to do with the question itself. There's no way they somehow googled or guessed the answer.

My passwords are always between 8 and 10 characters long, and always contain a combination of upper and lower case alpha, as well as numerics.

I am also not stupid enough to fall for phishing scams. I rarely log into the website to post on the forums, so there's no way I was redirected and they got my login info that way.

Not even my wife knows my passwords, let alone any one else. They are not written down anywhere.

So what went wrong? Where's the flaw in blizzard's or my own security, and how can I prevent this from happening again?

Q u o t e:
How was my other post, now locked, a duplicate thread? It was for an entirely new problem. Please adress the issue instead of ignoring it.

My account was recently hacked, through no fault of my own, and most of my characters on Garona were deleted. My characters were restored, but very poorly. The 450g that my character had on garona was given to a character of the same name on an entirely different server!

To top that off, it is obvious whomever hacked my account dropped my main tradeskill for enchanting, Disenchanted all my stuff, and mailed it off. I was given all the items back, but the ingame gm's are refusing to restore my old skill before I was hacked. In this case one of my characters lost 300 Alchemy, and another 300 Tribal Leatherworking.

It is very unfortunate that you feel this situation was handled poorly given that you were reimbursed for 328+ items (not including stacks) across four characters not including gold. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide reimbursements on profession or tradeskills under any circumstances. I am sorry for this circumstance. I am currently inquiring into reasons why gold may have been sent to the wrong character and will get back to you.
This just feels like spinning plates...

Q u o t e:
Since I'm betting the large majority of hacked accounts have a skill dropped for Enchanting I also find it an incredibly bad policy to not have some kind of backup in place. With the massive rise in hacked accounts in the past week or two you're going to wind up with a large amount of pissed off players when they find that out.

I can understand how such circumstances would be frustrating. At this point, I would recommend forwarding such feedback to us at WoWgmfeedback-us@blizzard.com

Just to clarify about the incorrectly forwarded gold, are you claiming that gold that should've been given back to this level 60 Warlock was given to the level 60 Druid of the same name?

Q u o t e:
The gold was given to my level 60 Rogue on Stormreaver (also of the same name) and not my level 60 Warlock on Garona. Though if you want, feel free to give it to the 60 Druid (Dark Iron) over all of them. :)

Okay, thank you. = )

I have forwarded this information internally and will get back to you as soon as possible. I apologize for this slight mix up, Krltplps.

The issue with the gold being incorrectly sent to an alternate character on your account has been addressed, Krltplps. Thank you for your patience. ; )
My lamb and martyr, you look so precious.
