Subject: Performance Issues & Compensation 8/18 - 8/20
   This past weekend, the realms listed below experienced periodic performance issues and downtime as a result of a hardware failure. As soon as the issue was identified late Friday night, we contacted HP (Hewlett-Packard), the equipment manufacturer, and began working with them to replace a defective board in the unit.

Due to the complexity of the work involved and the sensitivity of the data potentially impacted by the hardware failure, this process took approximately nine hours to complete. Once we confirmed that the affected realms were ready to go, we brought them back online. The realms continued to experience intermittent performance issues on both Saturday and the early portion of Sunday as a result of a few separate but related factors, but we were ultimately able to resolve these issues. Weve been closely monitoring performance and have not seen any further incidents since then.

To compensate players for the inconvenience caused by these issues, we will be providing a 24-hour time extension to active accounts that have characters on the affected realms. Furthermore, we will continue to work closely with HP to help anticipate and avoid similar hardware failures in the future.
