With Burning Crusade on the horizon I'm getting more excited than I used to get as a kid with Christmas approaching. I've been a fan of Warcraft (and anything Blizzard produces) since a friend of mine introduced me to the original warcraft back in high school.
Anyway, I've been playing WoW since just a month or two after release and just now am I starting to become interested in the lore behind the game, quests, etc.
I've heard the pen and paper RPGs out there have lore in them and I intend on picking them up to read up on it but I've heard rumors about some novels that are available. I was just curious if any of these sources would enhance my in game experience. Are they any good?
As a note I realize many people are going to say lore is dead etc. with the introduction of the new classes and things but to be honest I can deal with it. I just want to know more about who Sargeras is, what's a pit lord, Kil'jaden?...must be someone important... all that stuff.
Also, I'd like to go back and play through all the warcraft games again to follow the storylines there...does anyone know where Warcraft I might still be available and if it would even work on today's machines?

If you can find Orcs and Humans you'd then have to find a machine that you could play it on since from what I recall it ran from DOS. :)
The books are very good and the RPG books are great sources of information as well though there are some slight variations from the RPG books to World of Warcraft.
