Subject: Where's Lothar
I wonder why the game designers didn't put a big statue of Lothar at the entrance of Stormwind?

Q u o t e:
The Blasted Lands (which is where the Portal is) used to be part of the Swamp of Sorrows. Though none of it was called the Swamp of Sorrows back then, I forget what it was called. Once The portal was opened by Medivh, who was possessed by Sargeras, it shattered the area around it and the place became the Blasted Lands, and the place now know n as Swamp of Sorrows had its former name changed to that.

Blacrock Mountain was never in Swamp of Sorrows, dunno what made you think that... It was created way back when Ragnaros was summoned into the area by the Dark Iron Dwarves, led by Thaurissaun (sp?). His arrival shattered the whole area creating Searing Gorge, Blackrock Mountain, and Burning Steppes.

Andandandandandand!!!
Lothar DID lead the alliance forces to Blackrock Mountain, during the huge fight on its slopes Lothar 1v1'd with Doomhammer and got beat-down to death... Though he managed to mortally wound Doomhammer. Lothar's top lieutenant, Turi-something (I forget name) then led the remaining forces of the alliance into a rage after seeing their leader fall and killed Doomhammer himself, and the orcs were defeated.

Yeah...

Doomhammer didn't die in that battle. He was defeated and taken as the King's slave, where he stayed in captivity for many a year. He escaped eventually, however, and lived as a hermit in the wilds of the Eastern Kingdoms. Eventually, another escaped slave by the name of Thrall found him, having visited with his ancestral clan and learned about his people. Orgrim challenged him, and Thrall came out victorious. It was then that he worked with Thrall to free the rest of the clans from the internment camps. In the final battle at Durnholde Keep, Orgrim was slain by a cowardly stroke to his backside. After his death, Thrall took up his legendary hammer and black armor, becoming the next Warchief of the Horde.

Which still makes me wonder why Thrall would still allow warlocks in the horde.

Try doing the Ragefire Chasm quests from Thrall... you'll learn a bit of the lore around it. ;)

Cay,

Is the lord of the clans book apart of teh official lore? Cause if it is I was under the impression that Ogrim was taking on several mounted knights and he was on foot and beating them down and one of those knights drove a lance through his back.

In fact i seem to remember that when Thrall went to put on the armor he refused to have it repaired. Just hammered back out so that the scar would remain.

I dont believe that the knight was ever mentioned by name.

I love lord of the clans...
the real proof that the Orcs a far more noble race then they are thought to be.

In game, the old orc in Hammerfall speaks of watching Orgrim die to a cowardly strike to his back. Thus what you said and what I related both fit with the lore. ;)

According to the book, Orgrim did not die at Durnholde, but rather at the.. um, 4th (?) camp they attacked.

That's probably my bad, then. Caffeine hasn't kicked all the way in (and yes, I'm aware it's 1PM.) To the editmobile!

Doomhammer was Terenas' honored prisoner of war Cay. Terenas hoped that by putting the orcs into internment camps, they would lose their bloodlust and join the Alliance. And turns out, he was right they did. His option to not slay them all caused Stromgarde and Quel'Thalas to leave the Alliance, and Gilneas to shut itself off from the world.

So goes the Alliance telling. Orgrim didn't precisely see it that way. :P
