Is it just my server or does all servers have the mind numbingly idiotic convesations in Barrens General?
It seems like its the only place where you can say anything and start an argument...

I'm under the impression that the Barrens is its unique little self because of the wide span of levels that use the Crossroads for transportation. Put enough opinions (experienced and otherwise) together, and you'll have what results in the Barrens. :)
(That said, I'm a fan of the channel, myself.)
